Replacing Irrigation with Permaculture

This event is sponsored by the North County Rare Fruit Growers and is being cross-posted here:

Whether you have some water to play with or your land is bone dry, Paul Wheaton will walk through how to convert a dried patch of dirt into a lush jungle of crops and forage without any irrigation. The presentation will cover a range of techniques for making use of the water that falls from the sky, but will also provide an understanding of how simple micro-climates can be created and enhanced to preserve and produce additional water. Some of the methods discussed include maximizing edge effect, planting trees (the right kind and right technique), digging swales, using rocks, creating hugelkultur beds and more. Paul Wheaton is a larger-than-life character and writer who is the operator of, a forum to discuss all things permaculture, and who also publishes hundreds of podcasts and YouTube videos. He is a Master Gardener, permaculture designer and a java software engineer. This Paul Wheaton evening is a fundraiser presented by CRFG, a 501(c) non-profit dedicated to sharing and growing knowledge about growing non-native and non-commercially grown fruit. Admission is $5.00, all proceeds will benefit the North County San Diego CRFG Chapter.
